COIBA NATIONAL MARINE PARK

 Located in the Pacific south of the Veraguas Province, with an area of ​​270.125 hectares protects marine, coastal and island. Within this park are the areas of Isla Coiba island, Rancheria (Coibita) Jicarón, Jicarita, Just outside, Canal de Afuera, Uvas, Contreras and Brincanco (153.582 hectares) and marine areas (216.543 hectares), which become one of the most extensive marine parks in the world and its continental shelf. With 49.300 hectares Coiba is the largest island in the American Pacific, for its geographic isolation it is set to a penal colony in 1910, which still exists today, and this has helped to keep the forests of this island state unchanged.
